New Gas Installation

Applications will be accepted all year round at the regular contribution amounts approved. However, all applications will be reviewed before acceptance due to the high volume of applications already received for the construction year.  Any additional fees will be assessed for those installations to be done in winter frost conditions.

Whether you are building on a new site or converting from propane, we can help you. There are several steps you need to do before installation can begin.

  • Complete an Application for New Service
  • Complete and sign a Customer (Landowner) Contract, Payment of the required, membership contribution (Rural:  $7,500 + GST or Urban:  $3,250 + GST); payment must be received in full in order to be put on the construction list.
  • Utility Right of Way must be registered on the land title

24-Hour On call

Our business is to ensure that you have a continuous supply of gas as possible. Therefore, Select Communications will answer the phone during after hours and will contact the on-call staff member.  Please remember that after-hours calls are for emergency purposes only and a the service rates are billed at time-and-a-half.

We are a rural gas co-operative that was established in 1972 to distribute natural gas to our members. The Gas Co-op serves members located within Lac La Biche County and part of Athabasca County.

Our current membership is approximately 2000+ members, and are served by 9 full time-employees and 7 Board Directors. We build, operate, and maintain our own pipeline and are on-call 24 hrs/day to respond to gas odour calls and natural gas emergencies.
The Lac La Biche District Natural Gas Co-op Ltd is a member of the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops. Together with other members of the Federation, we are the largest rural gas system in the world.
Each landowner must have a valid signed contract and pay a $5 membership fee. Membership entitles you to a voting share at the annual general meetings, the eligibility to run for a director position, and an opportunity for children of members to qualify for our annual scholarship if attending post-secondary institutions.
