Lac la Biche Art Club is pleased to host this workshop with the help of Portage College.

Barn quilts are a traditional method of barn decoration dating back hundreds of years. They’re a great way to add some colour all year round to your outside spaces.

If you have an outbuilding, with plywood, and some paint you can add your own barn quilt to the world.

Depending on the size of your barn quilt this project can be completed in a few days to a week. Most of the time is spent waiting for the paint to dry which can take a while if it’s humid.

The patterns vary much like any fabric quilt block and often reflect the farm/home owner’s heritage and personal preference. Barn quilts can now be found in over 48 States and in at least four provinces in Canada.

Workshop $75.00

Your facilitator, Sandy Makokis will;

Introduce the basics of barn quilt design. Working with a 14” x 14” board, participants will select a pattern and be given instructions, tools and paint to create their very own barn quilt. You will take home a beautiful block for yourself. *Please bring your own hair dryer.
